Quilting is being recognized as fine art and new generations of artists such as Bisa Butler, Rosie Lee Tompkins, and Sanford Biggers are embracing the medium. In this workshop, you will discover the textile work of Stella who will turn 100 years old in February, and learn how seasoned artists use simple artists' tools to plan a design for a quilt. FAMA artists will share how they develop themes, their construction process, and the element of good design. Participants are encouraged to bring a work in progress or a sketchbook, their own fabric, needles, thread, and scissors. (Masks and social distancing is a requirement)
